Pompeii Casts. Calco B. A naked man resting on his left side.

Found outside the Porta Stabia, on 12th August 1889.

Of this victim there are only frontal photos, those by Sommer no. 1249, another by SAommer of the cast on display in the antiquarium and one by Esposito numbered 173.

The cast was last recorded as being replaced in the Granaio del Foro on the 26^th of April 1938.

The bombing of 13th September 1943 caused the demolition of the south perimeter and part of the west wall of the Granaio. At least two of the seven pilasters of the entrance doorways were also demolished.

The victim was found on the 12th of August 1889 in front of the Porta Stabia exiting on the right.

Near the victim were found 4 silver coins, 5 bronze coins, and not far away a thin oxidized silver bracelet was found, with a disc in the center on which a phallus was found in relief.

In the same area on the 1st of August 1889 fragments of a human skeleton were found, on the 11th of October 1889 victims 13 and 14 were found and on the 12th of March 1890 victim 15 was found.

According to Niccolini,

A male completely nude, leaning on his left side, with the hands clenched: while the head has nothing but a horrible skull, all the body and especially the back was perfectly successful.

A plaster cast of a fig leaf was added over the phallus when the cast of the victim was displayed in the Pompeii Antiquarium.
